A New Framework for ADB-Government-NGO Cooperation

The Framework

ADB collaborated with stakeholders to draft the ADB-Government-NGO Cooperation: A Framework for Action, 2003-2005 [PDF], which was approved by the ADB President on 6 May 2003. The Framework served as the road map for cooperating with NGOs and other CSOs from 2003 to 2005. The NGO and Civil Society Center is currently developing a new workplan for collaboration with civil society, building on the recommendations in the Framewok.

The Framework is available in some Asian languages.

The Process Used to Write the Framework

Between May 2002 and March 2003, over 500 representatives of NGOs, governments, the private sector, and ADB attended consultation workshops or submitted recommendations to develop the Framework.

Earlier Drafts

In December 2002 and February 2003, the first draft [PDF] and second draft of the Framework were circulated respectively within ADB and to participants in consultation workshops for review and comment. They were also posted on this web site to draw comments from the public.

The second draft is available in some Asian languages.
