Nongovernment Organizations and Civil Society

CIVICUS*: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is an international network that helps strengthen citizen action and civil society. CIVICUS provides a focal point for knowledge-sharing, common interest representation, global institution-building and engagement among civil society. The alliance published the Civil Society Index – Country Report for Nepal*, that describes the state of civil society in the country. The CSI was conducted by Mongolian civil society activists using a variety of methods and data sources.

ADB features a country profile of Nepal* [ PDF ] that provides an overview of the civil society as well as details on ADB-CSO cooperation in the country.

The NGO Federation of Nepal* (NFN) was established for the promotion and protection of social justice, human rights and pro-poor development. The NFN has evolved into a network that works for accountability and transparency of NGO operations in Nepal.
