Micro Success Story? Transformation of Nongovernment Organizations into Regulated Financial Institutions

The publication examines the structure, and achievements of microfinance institutions that have been established by NGOs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. While the number of such institutions is low, they have become a major influence on the microfinance industry.

Civil Society Country Profiles

With a view to strengthening ADB cooperation with CSOs, the NGOC peiodically prepares reports as the context for CSO activities in various developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. These studies contribute to awareness of the important role that CSOs play in promoting development accross the Asia-Pacific region. The reports are usually prepared by NGOs or with substantial input from NGOs.

A new series, launched in September 2005, features country profiles that provide an overview of the civil society context in different countries and details on ADB-CSO cooperation in these countries.
