Other ADB Resources for Civil Society Organizations
Below is a list of a range of resources that may assist CSOs in their work. The resources range from handbooks to case studies, statistics, strategies, and toolkits.
- The Consultation and Participation website has a toolkit for development practitioners in applying participatory methods as well as many other resources. Their page of links lists external websites dedicated to consultation and participation.
- The publications page of the ADB website can be sorted by training and instructive materials, which provides a list of publications that may be good resources for civil society organizations. Some examples include conducting effective presentations, writing weblogs, working in teams, and the five whys technique.
- The booklet, 100 Tips 100 Tools is a quick reference containing ten sets of tips and online tools on common topics related to the basic content of international and domestic laws and generally accepted governance principles affecting the civil society sector.
- The Staff Guide to Cooperation with CSOs provides practical tips and guidance on how to maximize the benefits of cooperation with CSOs in various operational contexts. It also defines civil society-related terminology, presents numerous examples of ADB-CSO collaboration, offers convenient checklists, and summarizes policy requirements and good practice.
- The Handbook on Poverty and Social Analysis is a working document intended to help ADB staff, project teams, consultants, and national executing/implementing agencies in designing country programs and projects that will strengthen the fight against poverty in Asia and the Pacific.
- From the Ground Up: Case Studies in Community Empowerment is a collection of colorfully written stories about eight projects with strong participatory components. From the Ground Up brings attention to the accomplishments of communities that have seized the opportunity to improve their situation, stimulates appreciation for the rich potential of bottom-up approaches to development, and inspires thinking about how practices featured here can be usefully applied in other contexts.
- Working with Women's Nongovernment Organizations presents the case studies of NGO-supported projects funded under ADB's regional technical assistance project on Gender and Development.
- ADB's support to each of its developing member countries is outlined in its Country Partnership Strategy with that country. The CPS is the roadmap for ADB intervention in a country and outlines what sectors ADB will support as well as the planned support to each country. Organizations interested in collaborating with ADB should review the relevant CPS to determine if there would be added value in a partnership.
- ADB posts all of its policies on its website. View Policy Papers to see a list of all ADB policies. The policy papers provide the framework for ADB's work and are a resource to those looking at ADB's overarching aims and objectives in a sector.
- ADB collects and analyzes poverty statistics on an array of issues. Economics and statistics is the entry point for statistical publications including ADB's Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2008 and the Development Indicators Reference Manual.
- ADB produces e-newsletters on a variety of topics. Current and previous editions are all available on the ADB website. Subscribers may choose to subscribe to the newsletter of a particular country, or on a topic of interest.
