Country profiles on NGOs/Civil Society

With a view to enhancing ADB-civil society organization (CSO) practice in the Pacific, a research was undertaken in 2004 on ADB – NGO Relations in the Pacific: Issues and Options for Strengthening Engagement. Together with ADB's Pacific Department, the paper provides operational solutions to impediments faced by the ADB in its efforts to better engage the cooperation and resources of the CSO and NGO community in Pacific Developing Member Countries (PDMCs).

A study was conducted in 2002 titled, NGO Strategy and Development of a Comprehensive Database of Development Focused NGOs to provide inputs for developing an NGO strategy and NGO database for ADB's Nepal Resident Mission (NRM). The NRM aims to prepare profiles of key NGOs working on ADB-assisted projects in Nepal and to understand the potential as well as challenges of working with NGOs.

A study was completed in 1998, which analyzes NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs) in nine developing countries in Asia, and recommends ways to improve ADB cooperation with NGOs and CSOs. The study comprises a regional overview and nine country-specific studies:
