Working with NGOs

ADB recognizes the important role of NGOs in development. We aim to integrate the experience, knowledge, and expertise of NGOs into our operations. The involvement of NGOs contributes to making projects more effective in meeting the priorities and needs of the intended beneficiaries. To strengthen partnership with NGOs In February 2001, ADB established the NGO Cooperation Center at our headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

As a rule, ADB works through the Government of the Philippines in supporting NGOs. For instance, NGOs are now involved in implementing projects under the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, which provides resources to innovative pilot projects designed to reduce poverty.

Visit the NGO Center to know the "anchor points", or proper contacts, if you want to take part in ADB-NGO activities. Find out, too, how NGOs can work with ADB. Also learn more about ADB's cooperation with NGOs:
