Poverty Reduction Cooperation Fund
(PRF)

Objectives

  • Help DMCs formulate, prioritize, implement, monitor, and reformulate national poverty reduction strategies and strengthen ADB’s roles in this process
Help ADB’slearning in poverty reduction through:
  • Assist in policy dialogue on poverty reduction
  • Develop new programs/projects
  • Pilot new approaches to influence project designs
  • Monitor and assess poverty reduction impact
  • Involve broader stakeholders
  • Strengthen ADB’s roles in the region

Eligibility Criteria

  • Direct link with national poverty reduction strategies and related policies/strategies
  • Additionality
  • Systemic impacts
  • Strong poverty focus
  • Influencing future ADB operations
  • Link with NPRS and other relevant policies
  • ‘Conceptual’ alignment with CSPs
  • Additionality
  • Country focus
  • Maximum use of local expertise and civil society participation
  • Coordination with other development partners

Scope

  • All DMCs
  • Country-based policy/strategy support
  • Regional training
  • Participatory activities
  • Up to $1 million
  • Class A and B countries except India and Indonesia
  • PRC has earmarked funding
  • TAs, action research, RM support, training, participatory workshops, pilot investment
  • Up to $1 million

Available Funds

  • €6.8 million (about $7.08 million: November 2001 - December 2007)
  • As of 30 September 2005, fully-committed
  • ₤39 million (about $52 million: July 2002 - December 2007: ₤30 million to the PRF regional window and ₤9 million to PRC)
  • As of 15 November 2005, fully-committed.
