Background
Welcome
to the Poverty Forum web site! ADB's Poverty Reduction Strategy,
adopted in November 1999, committed ADB to host every three
years an international forum on poverty issues. During the
week of 5-9 February 2001, the Asia and Pacific Forum on Poverty
(the Forum) convened for the first time ever. In one of the
largest international meetings ever hosted exclusively by
ADB, and more than 300 delegates from all over the world met
at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, Philippines for
a week of presentations and discussions of many poverty issues.
The Forum provided an opportunity for various stakeholders
and policymakers to share their views on poverty reduction
in the Asia and Pacific region.
We
invite you to explore the links listed below, to contribute
your views on poverty reduction in the Asia and Pacific region,
and to learn the views of others. Again,
welcome to the Poverty Forum web site!
