Private Sector Finance

New Initiatives

ADB is pursuing several new initiatives in response to the needs of the private sector in our developing member countries (DMCs). These are:

• Housing finance - to promote affordable housing for low and middle-income families
  

• Local currency financing - to provide additional risk-taking capacity in local currency, which commercial lenders are unable to provide
  

• Resolution of non-performing assets - to deal with disposal of NPAs, which have placed a strain on the resources of the banking sector in many DMCs

• Securitization - to diversify funding sources, thereby reducing their reliance on bank borrowing and the resulting sensitivity to banking crises.

• Trade Finance Facilitation Program - to encourage trade to, from, and between DMCs
