Training Programs

The APEC FRTI Advisory Groups identify priorities for training, based on the following criteria:

  • relevance to the needs of financial regulatory institutions;
  • common interest and high value; and
  • topics related to core financial supervisory and regulatory functions

The securities regulators program comprises three core courses:(1) new product regulation; (2) investigation and enforcement; and (3) risk management and internal control. These courses familiarize participants with basic concepts, hands-on-techniques, and general procedures related to investigation, enforcement, and regulation of new products using a number of actual cases as illustrations. These are supplemented by addresses from leading financial market specialists.

Because most supervisory organizations have insufficient in-house training capacity, the bank supervision program consists of four regional courses: (1) bank analysis and examination; (2) risk-focused supervision; (3) operational risk management; and (4) fundamentals of interest rate risk management. These courses are done in cooperation with the US Federal Reserve System.
