Background

The 2004 Orientation Program for DMC Officials was held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila from 8-24 November 2004. This Program was initiated in 1997 and was the eighth Orientation Program in this series. This year's Program had 32 participants from with each participant representing their developing member country (DMC).

Program Highlights

• The Program was inaugurated by Vice-President, Knowledge Management & Sustainable Development on 8 November 2004
• Fifty resource speakers from various Departments/Offices of ADB plus several more from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) talked on a total of 27 sessions, in addition to a separate workshop on leadership and management of change organized in partnership with AIM
• President Tadao Chino addressed the participants and interacted with them on 18 November 2004
• During the course of their stay in Manila, the participants met with ADB staff individually and in regional groups. This increased level of interaction helped not only in clarifying issues concerning the processing and implementation of projects in their countries, but also in strengthening the relations between DMC agencies and ADB
• The Program was closed by Vice-President, Finance & Administration on 24 November 2004
