Background

The 2005 Orientation Program for DMC Officials was held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila from 5-21 September 2005. This Program was initiated in 1997 and was the ninth Orientation Program in this series. This year's Program involved 30 participants with each participant representing their developing member country (DMC).

Program Highlights

  • The Program was inaugurated by Vice-President, Knowledge Management & Sustainable Development on 5 September 2005
  • Sixty resource speakers from various Departments/Offices of ADB plus several Consultants were tapped to talk on a total of 18 major topics, in addition to a full day workshop on leadership and management of change, The Fundamentals of Managing Institutional and Organizational Development, organized by PARD.
  • Vice President (Operations 1) met the participants on 16 September and interacted with them on emerging development issues in Asia and Pacific region and the emerging role of ADB.
  • During the course of their stay in Manila, the participants met with ADB staff individually and in regional groups to increase the level of interaction in clarifying issues concerning the processing and implementation of projects in their countries. This is also to strengthen the relations between DMC agencies and ADB.
  • The Program was closed by Vice-President, Finance & Administration on 21 September 2005.
