The Dali-Lijiang Railway Project aims to provide economic railway transportation in an unserved, less developed, and poor area in northwestern Yunnan Province. The project envisages construction of a 168-km single-track electrified railway between Dali and Lijiang in Yunnan Province, connecting the area with the rest of the People's Republic of China.
It will provide links to Kunming, Shanghai, and Beijing through three of the 16 east-west and north-south national railway corridors, providing access to major ports.
The project supports the PRC's development strategy of providing less developed regions with infrastructure and giving the poor greater access to economic growth.
