Results of Training Needs Analysis

Successful implementation of training interventions is rooted in the rigor and quality of analyzing training needs. In order to provide a well-focused and relevant leadership development program, training needs analysis (TNA) is given particular importance under LEAP.

The TNA will ensure the effective design and implementation of training courses under LEAP. The results of the TNA will serve as the basis for developing a capacity building framework and for formulating appropriate training interventions. In addition, the TNA will benchmark existing leadership competencies and identify specific knowledge and skills that need to be strengthened. Moreover, the TNA will provide inputs on the best possible mix of strategies and modes for the delivery of training courses.

The TNA was carried out from March to August 2005. A mix of data collection techniques was used including

  • survey
  • interview
  • focus group discussion
  • direct observation
  • review of secondary materials and references.
Results and proposed strategies for implementation are contained in the TNA Report. [ PDF ]
