Objectives
The project aims to contribute to equitable and enabling conditions for the poor and vulnerable to participate in environmental management processes and mechanisms by creating knowledge around the theme of participatory environmental management (PEM) and empowering people of the districts of Abbottabad and Kasur to access environmental justice through organized and effective networks.

Poverty-Environment Linkage
The project aims to empower the poor and vulnerable groups to play a pivotal role in the decision making process concerning the management of their natural environment. The project will assist vulnerable segments of districts Abbottabad and Kasur, that receive the impacts of deterioration of their natural environments, to become more aware and have an active voice for the protection of their natural environment and livelihoods.

• Two situational analysis documents for Abbotabad and Kasur highlighting environmental degradation and vulnerability; impact on lives and livelihoods; and deficiencies in relevant policies and institutions.
• At least six interactive stakeholder dialogues on PEM issues
• Two stakeholders led responsive PEM action plans
• At least six stakeholder networks for interest articulation and demand creation for PEM and environmental justice.
• Two Focal Offices for PEM as repository of knowledge and continued support to stakeholders for PEM and environmental justice.
• Two proposals for institutional strengthening of Focal Offices in each district.
• Four Musalihat Anjumans conciliation committees for promoting PEM and environment related public interest litigation.
• Three training modules on PEM and process for public interest litigation.
• Six two-day training events for selected stakeholders on PEM.
• Four “case laws” on model environment related public interest litigation.
• Four model environment related public interest litigation
• Best practices for environment related public interest litigation.
• Two set of guidelines for replication of successful public interest litigation

• Documentation of on-site environmental conditions and impact, deficiencies in policies, institutions and regulations hindering participatory decision-making
• Documentation of regional and local best practices in PEM
• Interactive stakeholder dialogues on pertinent PEM issues.
• Strengthening Focal Offices for PEM within District Governments of Abbottabad and Kasur
• Development of training modules and delivery of training to relevant stakeholders and networks in PEM tools as well as public interest litigation processes.
• Documentation of “case laws” related to environmental justice and best practices on environment related public interest litigation and development of user friendly guidelines for replication.
