Enhancing Human Security through Environment and Disaster Management

Objectives
The project aims to enhance human security in Central Viet Nam to cope with natural disasters like flood and cyclone by developing a community-based climate change adaptation model to analyze the community adaptation strategies and coping mechanism and to test recommended interventions

Poverty-Environment Linkage
The project recognizes that loss of assets because of floods and storms keep many rural communities in the Central region Viet Nam trapped in the cycle of poverty. The proposed project aims to address this issue by enhancing the capacity of poor rural communities to cope with natural disasters through undertaking awareness programs, conducting participatory planning process, preparing "safer village plans" and implementing pilot interventions
