Grassroots Funding

The Project will bridge the gap in access to finance by improving the sectoral allocation and geographic balance of public investment. There is no generic solution to rural development: the process must be locally specific and responsive to conditions and circumstances; it must also maximize local participation. The concept of rural amenities provides the overarching perspective necessary for this.

Environmental Governance

The Project will help the Government to make a stand on environmental governance. The removal of fishing lots from the core areas would signify the Government's intention to meet the obligations that are embodied in treaties and conventions, and work toward the goals of the Seville Strategy for Biosphere Reserves, 1995.
