Session on the Learning Toolkits at an International Conference in Jawahar Lal Nehru University, India
ADB’s Raza Ahmad participated in the captioned conference held during November 7-9, 2006. The conference was organized by Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) and sponsored by the World Bank and the Asia Foundation. The conference was inaugurated by the former Minister and current Chancellor of JNU, Dr Karan Singh while other speakers included senior judges, academics and civil society leaders from South Asia. In all, over 80 participants were present comprising delegates from South Asian DMCs as well as the World Bank, UNDP, The Asia Foundation and other regional and international development organizations. ADB representative made a presentation on introduction of the e-learning toolkits – on Citizen Report Cards and Continuous Improvement and Benchmarking and later held discussions with the participants from various education and training institutions to include the e-learning tool-kits in their curricula and teaching programs. The above-stated tool-kits were well received by the participating training institutions including the JNU. The latter expressed interest in holding special seminars in 2007 focusing on training public officials, academia and civil society organizations in the use and application of the tool-kits. The Institute of Management in Government, Kochi, India also expressed interest in introducing the tool-kits as part of their future training programs. Similarly, the representative from the Law and Policy Department of Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan will introduce the tools in their training courses on “law and governance for not for profit sector”. Other institutes will inform in due course about their plans to incorporate these tool-kits in their curricula. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
