Illegal logging in the Asia-Pacific region: an ADB perspective

ADB estimates that Governments in the Asia-Pacific region may be losing over $2.5 billion in revenue to illegal logging. This undermines the future of forests and sustainable forestry in the region. But equally important it that by depriving the Governments' in the region of hard needed cash for improving health and social services and so on, illegal logging and timber trade exacerbates poverty and underdevelopment in the region.
