Improving Delivery of Infrastructure Services
Updated: 14 August 2006
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a regional technical assistance (RETA) Improving Delivery of Infrastructure Services. This RETA is part of a joint ADB-Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID*), New Zealand's International Aid & Development Agency (NZAID*), Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS*), and World Bank (WB*) initiative to systematically, and coherently, address infrastructure issues in the Pacific region. It is exploring options and opportunities for improved service delivery and outreach, with greater attention to efficiency and cost recovery in: water, energy, roads, marine transport, and telecommunications. Financing needs will be assessed and appropriate financing modalities identified, including public sector participation and a range of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) options.
