Public Policy Training Program (PPTP)
Updated: 16 April 2007
Overview
The Public Policy Training Program (PPTP) is an ADB regional
technical assistance. The overall goal of PPTP is to build the public
policy management capability of mid-career government officials through
executive training programs. Training to meet the specialized needs
of ministries and agencies will also be undertaken. Courses will cover
a wide range of public policy issues relating to government objectives
of moving to a market economy under the rule of law that is increasingly integrated with the
world economy. Developing the analytical skills in planning and implementing
public economic policy will be a core focus.
Designed for transitional ADB developing member countries, the PPTP
will initially concentrate on Viet Nam, extending to Lao PDR and Cambodia
in 2007. For 2006, the key objectives are:
- Formulating a multi-year public policy training program for Viet Nam under the guidance of the Advisory Committee
- Preparing an executive training course in public policy management for mid-career government officials in Viet Nam plus providing specialized training to meet the needs of specific ministries and agencies
- Conducting a feasibility study for the eventual establishment of a school for public policy
- Conducting preliminary work in Cambodia and Lao PDR for future programs there.
In September 2006, the study Economic Transition in Viet Nam: Doi Moi to WTO was published and utilized by resource persons and the program participants.
