First Meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Public Policy Training Program

The first formal meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Public Policy Training Program (PPTP) was held on May 30, 2006 at the office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Viet Nam. The key purpose of the meeting was to discuss and endorse the training programs for 2006 and the operating procedure for the Advisory Committee. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Cao Viet Sinh, Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Vice Minister of Planning and Investment of Viet Nam.
Attending the meeting were representatives from relevant ministries and agencies of the Vietnamese government, including Office of the Government, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, etc. Representing ADB at the meeting was Mr. Arjun Thapan, Deputy Director General, Southeast Asia Department. The Japanese government was represented by Mr. Atsushi Mizuno, Alternate Executive Director for Japan at ADB. Mr. Ayumi Konishi, Country Director, Viet Nam Resident Mission, ADB, also attended the meeting.
The meeting was ended with the endorsement of two specialized training courses/seminars for 2006 and with a mandate for the Program Office in Hanoi to design the executive public policy training program in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
