The seminar, titled "Challenges for the Financial Regulator in a Changing Environment: Toward a Robust and Efficient Banking Sector in Viet Nam", is co-organized by the PPTP and the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV) and is aimed at providing policy advice to financial regulators. Some 45 officials of SBV, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning & Investment, and a number of commercial banks are expected to attend. The seminar will discuss how the state-owned commercial banks will become more market-oriented, private domestic banks can develop, and foreign banks would be allowed to play a less-restricted role. There will also be an opportunity to share international experience of the financial regulatory and supervisory authorities in managing structural changes. Giving presentations are senior experts from Viet Nam and various Asian countries and international organizations. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
