Executive Training Course on "Tax Administration Reform in Viet Nam: Best Practices in Taxpayer Services"

18 to 22 September 2006, Hanoi, Viet Nam

The Public Policy Training Program successfully delivered a course, titled "Tax Administration Reform in Vietnam: Best Practices in Taxpayer Services", at the PPTP Training Facility in Hanoi on September 18-22, 2006. The course was co-organized by the PPTP, the National Tax Agency of Japan, and the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam (GDT). More than 80 participants, who are mid-level officers from tax departments all over Viet Nam, attended the course, learning valuable best practices in taxpayer service from various countries, including Japan, United Kingdom, and Singapore. At the end of the course, participants also had an opportunity to reflect the knowledge they acquired by making group presentations on how to enhance taxpayer services in Viet Nam.

Anchoring this training course was a seminar on September 18, 2006 titled "Individual Income Tax - Japanese Experience & International Best Practice" lectured by Dr. Hirumitsu Ishi, Chairman of the Japanese Government's Tax Commission. The seminar benefited some 20 mid-level and senior officials of the GDT.
