Advanced Executive Development Program for Middle Level Officials of GMS Countries

24 July to 4 August 2006, Hanoi, Viet Nam

The advanced executive development program was co-organized by the ADB's GMS-Phnom Penh Plan for Development Management and the Public Policy Training Program. It took place from 24 July to 4 August 2006 at PPTP's Lakeview Training Facility in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The two-week intensive course was designed to prepare generalist managers for greater responsibilities and more complex objectives of development in light with the changes brought about by regional integration.

The program provided opportunities for understanding both the impact and complexities of integration within the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and their implications to the world economy and international relations particularly with other regional groupings. Participants were middle level GMS officials who were provided with perspectives, tools, frameworks and key concepts on regional integration and leadership, strengthening their competencies to develop and implement functional and strategic regional cooperation interventions (policies, programs and projects).

The Phnom Penh Plan (PPP) is a regional program that offers learning programs not offered by traditional training providers. It is confined to a relatively narrow set of development related issues, and targets learning recipients carefully to maximize impact and promote lifelong partnerships.
