Reducing Poverty in Asia and the Pacific
Asia and the Pacific have made tremendous economic and social gains over the past three decades. Yet, the region is still home to 900 million people - nearly one third of the population - who survive on less than a dollar a day. For the Asian Development Bank (ADB), poverty is the region's most urgent development challenge. As a working partnership of many of the world's industrialized nations and the developing countries of the region, ADB is an important source of funding, technical assistance, advice, and information for economic and social development. Reducing Poverty in Asia and the Pacific looks at ADB's accomplishments and the challenges that remain in fulfilling its mission to free the region from poverty and improve the welfare of all of the people of Asia and the Pacific. |
