Road Safety Guidelines for the Asian and Pacific Region
Road safety is a rapidly emerging issue in the road subsector with 235,000 persons killed annually and from three to four million severely injured and crippled in the region. With motorization increasing rapidly throughout the region, deaths and injuries from road accidents are expected to increase very quickly unless steps are taken to address the problem. This publication is part of a concerted effort by ADB, in conjunction with other donors, to examine the trends in road safety in the region, identify the sharp increase in traffic-related accidents, and highlight the urgent need for action. The Guidelines cover 14 individual sectors affecting road safety, with four introductory chapters and four appendices. Information is presented in a series of freestanding documents consisting of a total of more than 250 pages that can be extracted for distribution and discussion. More than 250 pages.
