The Regional and Sustainable Development Department (RSDD) was established in 2002 as a key feature of the ADB reorganization. RSDD is under the Vice President (Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development).
As the sector and thematic anchor department, RSDD serves three core functions:
- To lead and coordinate strategic studies and the development of medium term business plans, to support corporate operational coherence in priority sector and thematic areas;
- To introduce, demonstrate, and coordinate the deployment of new sector and thematic initiatives and business practices, to promote innovation and operational efficiency; and
- To support internal knowledge sharing and external knowledge networking for relevant sector and thematic areas, to encourage learning and knowledge development.
