Regional Technical Assistance on Capacity Building for Resettlement Risk Management - TA No. 6091-REGBackgroundApproved in December 2002, the regional technical assistance on Capacity Building for Resettlement Risk Management (TA 6091) [ PDF ] aims to generate specific knowledge based on country studies to identify risks and improve the capabilities of ADB and developing member countries to address impoverishment risks associated with involuntary resettlement. The TA was implemented in 3 focal countries, namely, Cambodia, India, and the Peoples' Republic of China. Key Outputs (as of October 2006)For each focal country the TA undertook studies and prepared knowledge products that are expected to contribute to better resettlement planning and management. CambodiaADB worked with the Interministerial Resettlement Committee (IRC) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to complete the following:
IndiaADB and the National Highways Authority of India conducted studies focused on understanding the issues related to managing resettlement planning and implementation for transport projects. Key outputs included Peoples Republic of ChinaADB and the Ministry of Land and Resources completed several studies that ADB expects will contribute to the reformulation of the Land Law and its regulations. EventsNational Workshops
Regional Workshop, 8-9 December 2005 As part of the RETA's concluding activities, a regional workshop was held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila. Delegates from Cambodia, India and Peoples Republic of China, representing diverse backgrounds including representatives from focal agencies and selected stakeholders from participating countries and other institutions attended the workshop.
