SPSO's 2009 Work Program
SPSO's deliverables for 2009 include:
- Country Partnership Strategy for Kiribati.
- Interim Operations Strategy for the Fiji Islands.
- Country Operations Business Plan for the Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu.
- Pacific Islands Economic Report (PIER) on the Fiji Islands.
- Country Performance Assessment for Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu.
- Processing the Fiji Road Upgrading (Sector) Project Phase III Supplementary Loan, the Emergency Assistance Loan and the Road Master Plan and Investment Project for the Fiji Islands for approval in 2009.
- Processing of the Cook Islands Infrastructure Governance Reform Program Loan for approval in 2009.
- Processing Technical Assistances for Improving Delivery of Infrastructure Services in the Cook Islands and Public Finance Management/Public Sector Performance Review and Improvement in the Cook Islands.
- Processing Technical Assistance for the Support for Economic and Public Sector Reforms in Tonga.
- Processing Technical Assistance for Private Sector Development in Samoa.
- Administrative responsibilities for selected projects, grants and technical assistances in the Cook Islands, Fiji Islands, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu.
- Improving collaboration with development partners.
SPSO aims to enhance the Pacific Department's portfolio performance through the services of the Project Administration Unit at SPSO and through the delivery of a project implementation and administration training in the subregion.
In addition to supporting country and regional programming, SPSO is liaising with donor partners, regional agencies, the private sector and non-governmental community to foster partnerships and common understandings to make ADB's assistance more effective, complementary, and catalytic in the SPSO region, with a special focus on supporting regional cooperation.
SPSO also works closely with government partners to identify key areas in line with the strategic development plans of each client country.
