SPSO's 2008 Work Program
SPSO's deliverables for 2008 include:
- Country Partnership Strategies for Cook Islands, Samoa and Tuvalu.
- Country Operations Business Plan for Tonga and Kiribati.
- Pacific Islands Economic Reports (PIER) for Cook Islands, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga and initiate diagnostic for PIER on Fiji Islands.
- Country Performance Assessment for Tonga.
- Processing Phase I of the Cook Islands Infrastructure Development Project (Avatiu Port) and start processing Phase II for approval in 2009.
- Processing the Outer Island Growth Centres Project on Christmas Island, Kiribati for approval in 2009.
- Processing the Program Grant in support of a Public Financial Management Programme in Tuvalu.
- Processing Technical Assistances in capacity development for public financial management in Kiribati and Tuvalu.
- Finalising an investment plan for the Fourth Fiji Road Upgrading Sector Project.
- Implementing the Regional Technical Assistance for Results-based Project Management for Pacific Developing Member Countries.
- Administrative responsibilities for selected projects and technical assistances in the Cook Islands, Fiji Islands, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu.
- Improving collaboration with donor partners.
SPSO aims to enhance the Pacific Department's portfolio performance through the services of the Project Administration Unit at SPSO and through the delivery of a project implementation and administration training in the subregion.
In addition to supporting country and regional programming, SPSO is liaising with donor partners, regional agencies, the private sector and non-governmental community to foster partnerships and common understandings to make ADB's assistance more effective, complementary, and catalytic in the SPSO region, with a special focus on supporting regional cooperation.
SPSO also works closely with government partners to identify key areas in line with the strategic development plans of each client country.
