Consultation with ADB's Board of Directors

An informal Board seminar on the draft W-Paper and the draft R-Paper will be held to obtain feedback before these draft policy papers are submitted for consideration of the Board.

Consultation with ADB Staff

Internal consultations are ongoing through meetings and interdepartmental circulations of draft documents. ADB's operations departments and other departments/offices are fully engaged as a formally constituted interdepartmental Working Group comprised of mission leaders, safeguard specialists, lawyers, and other relevant staff.

A Steering Committee responsible for overall guidance of the preparation and processing of the policy paper has been also established. Internal consultations will continue throughout the safeguards policy update until the final release of the Board approved Safeguard Policy Statement and pertinent Operations Manuals.

Implementation Arrangements

ADB's Regional and Sustainable Development Department is leading the ADB-wide safeguard policy update in consultation with a broad range of ADB staff.

An internal Steering Committee and a Working Group have been formed and a series of focus group meetings are taking place to discuss the draft policy paper.
