Asian Development Outlook 2009 Update: SamoaThe outcome for 2008 has been revised down to show a contraction of 3.4%. Several negative influences had a more severe impact than had been estimated. These included job losses at the Yazaki plant that assembles automobile parts for export, a fall in remittances, weakness in tourism, and the erosion of purchasing power due to high inflation.
