ADB is working with 6 developing member countries in South Asia to help address their individual situations and to encourage regional approaches to common challenges through regional cooperation.
To carry out its work, ADB in 2007 included significantly more new lending products and modes in the power, education, rural and urban infrastructure, and financial sectors, approving $2.8 billion for 23 sovereign loan and grant projects.

Restoring Livelihoods in Waterlogged Areas of Southwest
An ADB-assisted project, completed in 2005, is helping restore livelihoods in areas of Bangladesh wrecked by waterlogging. Life is already returning to normal in about 100 water-logged villages in Jessore after 18 years.
