Growth to Moderate in 2009ADB has maintained its projection on Thai economic growth at 5% in 2008, and has lowered its forecast from 5.2% to 5% in 2009. Renewed political unceratinties and rising inflation have undercut consumption and investment in 2008. GDP growth slowed in the second quater and will likely trend lower in the rest of the year, while inflation accelerated in July to a more than 10-year high. Reports

Thailand was one of the founding members of the ADB in 1966 and is the 17th largest shareholder. Cumulative lending since joining amounted to almost $5.4 billion for 84 loans as of 31 December 2007.
