Multi-modal Transport & Sector Development

To meet increasing demand for travel, ADB helps its developing member countries integrate transport infrastructure and services and harmonize various transport modes. Each project undertaken in multi-modal transport provides a comprehensive integration framework that is tailor-fit to the country’s economic, financial, social and environmental requirements.

With increasing concern over energy security, energy efficient transport will be needed to address the future requirements in the sector. Alternate modes of transport have significantly different levels of energy use and thus can provide substantial benefits by improved utilization of existing transport technologies.

ADB is also committed to developing energy efficient transport services through the Energy Efficiency Initiative, which has transport as one of its three key themes.
