Urban Development
Updated: 3 July 2008

With population expanding rapidly over the last 50 years, many Asian cities face deteriorating sanitationand environmental conditions, inadequate housing and infrastructure, and other problems. ADB recognizes that urban issues require integrated approaches that specifically target the poor, promote economic development, treat cities as a living ecosystem, and foster the involvement of private sector and civil society.

This website provides information on ADB's urban operations, and knowledge products; and various tools and strategies to help ADB's developing member countries manage the challenges of urbanization.
