Highlights of Accomplishments
The Cooperation Fund for the Water Sector (CFWS) is a multi-donor facility established to help catalyze the implementation of ADB's Water Policy in its developing member countries. ADB's Board of Directors established the CFWS in December 2001. Since then, CFWS has financed a coherent program of activities designed to promote effective water management policies and practices in the Asia and the Pacific region. This page outlines CFWS' major accomplishments.
- Conducted 2 regional and 12 national media workshops for journalists
- Organized an informal journalist network, now with over 400 members. Asia Water Wire, an online resource of news and articles on a diverse range of water issues developed in partnership with ADB, features stories by journalist members
- Produced and distributed various multimedia products on water issues and reforms including video documentaries, print publications, CD-Roms, photo essays, and more
- Uploaded 12 water video documentaries and the 4 Water for Life public service announcements (PSAs) to the worldwide web in YouTube*, Yahoo videos*, Google videos* and Spike/iFilm* for increased viewership
- Signed broadcast agreements with 10 networks to show the water video documentaries
- Showcased water documentaries in regional water events and film festivals
- 19 Asian broadcasters aired Water for Life PSAs
