Examples of in-country dialogues on dams and development
Philippines

An initial follow up meeting organized by ADB in August 2001 brought together ADB staff, NGO representatives and Philippine officials from the central and provincial levels of government concerned with planning and implementing large water resource projects. The meeting aimed to encourage government agencies to a) improve their planning and processes for major water resource projects; and b) determine the degree of uniformity in the laws, rules and regulations under which they plan, design and implement water resource projects. See the proceedings of the meeting.

A multi-stakeholder workshop originally planned for the first quarter of 2004 has been rescheduled to later in 2004 after the General Election. The workshop is being promoted by the Cordillera People's Alliance jointly with other NGOs and the National Economic Development Authority of the Philippine Government.
