Water for Asian Cities
Increased investments in urban water supply and sanitation carefully directed to the poor are crucial to meet the Millennium Development Goals. Through the Water for Asian Cities (WAC) program, the Asian Development Bank and UN-Habitat shared their resources to catalyze these investments. |
MORE ABOUT WAC
A critical aspect of WAC is the sharing of financial responsibilities. For Phases 1 and 2 of the Program, ADB and UN-Habitat intended to make available at least US$10 Million, each contributing US$5 Million. To date, both agencies have exceeded this target.
For Phase 3, ADB proposed total of US$500 Million in investments, consistent with its lending programs, to be approved over a 5-year period. The ongoing and pipelined ADB investments under this program have now exceeded the initial target of $500 million.
