Water Financing Partnership Facility
ADB established the Water Financing Partnership Facility (WFPF) in 29 November 2006 to support its Water Financing Program 2006-2010 (WFP). This program aims to deliver substantial investment, reform, and capacity development in three key areas—rural water services, urban water services, and river basin water management—and targets the following outcomes:
- 200 million people with safe drinking water and improved sanitation
- 40 million people with better irrigation and drainage services
- 100 million people with reduced flood risks
- integrated water resources management (IWRM) introduced in 25 river basins
To achieve these WFP goals, the WFPF is mobilizing co-financing and investments from development partners, with initial contributions targeted at $100 million by 2008.

The WFPF promises direct and on the ground results, increased donor harmonization and efficiency, and strengthened partnerships. ADB accepts WFPF contributions, on an untied grant basis, from bilateral, multilateral, and individual sources, including companies and foundations.
