ADB will boost investment in end-user energy efficiency to help Asia and the Pacific tackle surging power demand and growing environmental threats from greenhouse gas emissions.

ADB and Microsoft Corp. will showcase the Apps For Asia – Redesigning Development Program at the ADB’s 46th Annual Meeting. The program includes concepts for mobile applications that track water usage, consolidate the most sought-after emergency services, monitor medication use among tuberculosis patients, and help public transit users plan travel.

More than 75% of the countries in Asia and the Pacific are experiencing a serious lack of water security, with many of them facing an imminent water crisis unless immediate steps are taken to improve management of water resources, says a new study prepared jointly by ADB and the Asia-Pacific Water Forum.
