HIGHLIGHTS

Asia 2015

Friday, 10 May
2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Asia experienced rapid economic growth and an expanded role in the global political economy during the 1980s and 1990s. However, the benefits of economic growth and development have not been evenly distributed across the region, and Asia continues to be home to over two thirds of the world's poor. Moreover, the region is facing numerous challenges including the aftermath of the financial crises, the global economic downturn, and more recently, the war against terrorism. What will happen to Asia in the future? What role will Asia play in shaping the future of the global political economy?

Visionaries of Asia and prominent thinkers from the private sector and academia will share their views and consider the following questions:

  • Where will Asia be in 2015?
  • What are the main challenges that Asia must address?
  • What are the hopes and expectations for Asia's economic, social and political development?
