YOUNG-HOI LEE is ADB's managing director general. He joined ADB from the Export-Import Bank of Korea, where he was chairman and president in 2001-2003. In 1999 he became deputy minister for planning and management, Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE). In 1997 he became executive director, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), representing Australia, Cambodia, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, New Zealand, and seven Pacific island countries. In 1994 he became director general for budget coordination. In 1991 he became advisor to the executive director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In 1987 he handled matters related to multilateral development banks and IMF as chief of the International Financial Institutions Division, and was seconded to the International Finance Division, IBRD. He began his career at MOFE in 1973-1980. He studied economics at Seoul National University, and holds a master of business administration from Indiana University's Graduate School of Business, United States.
