Yung Chul Park
 

YUNG CHUL PARK, professor of economics at Korea University, is a current member of the National Economic Advisory Council, Republic of Korea. He recently served as Ambassador for International Economy and Trade for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2001-2002) as well as board chairman of Korea Exchange Bank (1999-2001). In 1998, he managed the merger of Korea's two largest commercial banks as chair of the CBK-Hanil Bank Merger Committee. Mr. Park served as chief economic advisor to President Doo Hwan Chun. Additional credentials include serving as president of the Korea Development Institute, president of the Korea Institute of Finance, and a member of the Bank of Korea's Monetary Board. He has worked as director of the Institute of Economic Research at Korea University, taught at Harvard University and Boston University, United States, and worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). After completing his bachelor's degree at Seoul National University, Mr. Park went on to receive his doctor of philosophy from the University of Minnesota, United States.
