Institutional Investors' Roundtable: Current Market Turmoil - An Assessment of Where We Stand

4 May 2008 (2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)

This year's Institutional Investors' Roundtable will discuss the ramifications and impact that the current market turmoil might have on Asia's financial markets and economies. The seminar will explore how the lack of concrete data will impact risk characteristics of the financial markets and how the regulatory environment in ADB's member countries could change. The panel will discuss: a) financial institutions' liquidity, market and credit risk practices, including treatment of complex credit products and conduits; b) the supervisory oversight principles for regulated financial entities, especially given exposures to off-balance sheet contingent claims; and c) the role of credit rating agencies in evaluating structured finance products.
