Foreign Exchange Service



A foreign currency exchange service will be provided by Caja Madrid in two mobile banks, which will be located near the Registration Center.

  • The service will be available from 2 to 6 May.
  • Opening hours: from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. (Lunch time: from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be shifts during lunch time so only one mobile bank will be available during that time.)
  • Services to be provided:
    1. Commissions applied to foreign currency exchange: Up to 601.01 € may be exchanged free of commission; for amounts over 601.01 € a commission of 3% will be charged (the minimum commission will be 6 €).

      Maximum amount of foreign currency permitted to be exchanged will be 1,502 € per person per day.

      Coins: Only Euro coins will be accepted for both buying and selling.

      Selling: ONLY Euros and US Dollars will be sold.

      Buying: The following currencies will be accepted:

          Australian Dollar AUD
          British Pound GBP
          Canadian Dollar CAD
          Chinese Yuan Reminbi CNY
          Danish Krona DKK
          Hong Kong Dollar HKD
          Japanese Yen JPY
          New Zealand Dollar NZD
          Norwegian Kroner NOK
          Swedish Krona SEK
          Swiss Franc CHF
          Thai Baht BHT
          Turkish Lira TRY
          US Dollar USD
      Fee to be applied to Traveler's Checks: 1% of the face value of the check (minimum of 3€ per check).

      Maximum amount permitted to cash in traveler's checks will be 900 € per person per day.

      Traveler's checks must be already signed by the holder, and they have to be signed by the holder again in the presence of the clerk when the checks are cashed. The clerk will match the two signatures before he/she accepts the check.
