Job Purpose:
The IT Specialist (Middleware Administration) is responsible for managing the planning, installation, operations, administration and maintenance for all middleware applications of ADB in order to deliver prescribed levels of service reliability, availability and support.
The position is also responsible for the overall operations and integration between enterprise middleware applications within ADB as well as for ensuring access and authentication for ADB's corporate applications such as Oracle ERP, IBM WebSphere Portal, Oracle Identity Manager, IBM Lotus Domino, IBM Connections, IBM FileNet and IBM Content Analytics, which are governed by access policies and Single-Sign On. Work with clear policies and specific objectives with regular supervision.
Expected Outcomes
Middleware Administration
- Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of technology associated with enterprise applications within ADB, including design of integration and deployment architectures between different enterprise systems.
- Provide architectural and technology standards to ensure performance, stability and scalability in all middleware technologies.
- Oversee the troubleshooting of performance, reliability, and availability issues and or debugging of applications in production.
- Provide the necessary technical and operational support for effective systems administration.
- Manage the compliance to Infrastructure architecture and standards, responds to all audits of the function’s activities and systems.
- Ensure that the reliability, availability, and serviceability of ADB’s middleware technologies meet agreed service levels, goals and requirements of the organization.
- Provide leadership role in consultation with other OIST groups in the design, implementation and integration of middleware technologies and enterprise applications and ensures all enterprise applications complies with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with Technology Division in the development of short-term and long-term information systems plans for ADB’s cost-effective information systems and technology.
- Keep abreast with the current and emerging technologies, industry trends and development in client/server, networks, security and personal computing and implements upgrades, changes or enhancements to analyze and improve server availability, and do performance levels to optimize effectiveness and to utilize appropriate technologies in support of future ADB business change.
- Maintain active links with other international organizations to gain comparative assessments and shares information when appropriate, on the latest information systems and technologies.
Staff Supervision
- Mobilize people and provide leadership and support to reporting staff.
- Coach and mentor teams and individuals, ensure the overall quality of their work, foster innovation, and promote ongoing learning and development of reporting staff.
- Manage the work and performance of team members by providing clear direction and regular monitoring and feedback.
Educational Requirements:
A university degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or related fields, preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent. Certifications in Websphere Application Server, Filenet, Cognos, IBM Portal and Web Content Management, and Sun J2EE are required.
Relevant Experience And Other Requirements:
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level
- At least 4 years of overall J2EE applications administration and development in an enterprise production environment, encompassing design and development cycle. At least 3 years of which must have been performed within an IBM WebSphere Application Server context and 3 years in systems programming, tuning and troubleshooting.
- Ability to visualize the operation, interaction and integration of different components in a mix of enterprise grade J2EE applications with reliable exposure to operating systems.
- Understanding of and experience with Java profiling tools and performance troubleshooting.
- Problem-solving skills with an emphasis on resolution of complex technical problems.
- International experience working in several countries
- Able to liaise and work effectively with internal clients.
- Able to work collaboratively with teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
