ADB has supported many private sector projects in its developing member countries since 1983. Currently, ADB's private sector operations focus primarily on two major sectors:

• Infrastructure: power (e.g. generation, transmission and distribution, including a particular focus on renewable power), transportation (e.g. roads, ports, railways, airports), water supply and waste treatment, oil and gas infrastructure, and telecommunications
• Capital Markets: financial institutions and investment funds

• Credit information bureau
• Development banks
• Expressway rehabilitation and expansion
• Housing finance
• Mutual fund
• Nonperforming loan resolution/acquisition
• SME financing
• Thermal power generation facilities
• Venture capital companies
