ADB established an in-country Development Coordination Office in Honiara in 2008, in line with its Pacific Approach 2010-2014 and as part of a regional technical assistance to enhance engagement with Pacific developing member countries.

The office plays a role in ensuring effective government engagement with ADB at all levels and supporting the government's implementation of its Medium-Term Development Strategy and ADB's efforts to improve donor harmonization and coordinating aid within government and partnerships with wider stakeholders.
