Results of ADB-Supported Operations: Viet Nam

ADB's activities in Viet Nam span from projects in agriculture and natural resources, urban services, and public sector management to large infrastructure projects, particularly roads and energy. ADB's strategies and programs in the country have been carefully aligned with the government's development programs, and are particularly supportive of inclusive growth.

ADB is supporting Viet Nam by pursuing a country partnership strategy that seeks to remove key constraints to pro-poor, business-led development. In the coming years, ADB is also helping promote public–private partnerships and improve the efficiency of Viet Nam's economy.

The country brief summarizes how the partnership between the Government of Viet Nam and ADB has contributed to the development of the country.

Energy

Transmission lines installed or upgraded between 2010-2013: 504 kilometers

Length of power, gas, and oil transmission lines (ground distance in kilometers). For power transmission lines, this should be the simple distance from tower A to tower B and not the circuit-kilometer.

* Ratings are based on project completion reports (PCRs) issued in 2010-2013. These ratings are updated when project completion report validation and/or project/program performance evaluation reports become available. As the PCR for each project is usually prepared 12-24 months after project completion, the figures may include information from projects completed earlier than 2010.

The table includes projects completed during the period, and funded by ADB's ordinary capital resources and/or the Asian Development Fund, cofinanciers, and the government. The outputs presented are limited to ADB's core sectors, as defined under Strategy 2020 and tracked through indicators in the ADB Results Framework. ADB monitors progress on these outputs in the annual Development Effectiveness Review. The numbers represent the sum of outputs and beneficiaries of individual projects. Therefore, the beneficiary numbers reported under education—teachers trained, and students benefitting from school improvement programs or direct support—include those who benefited from more than one project.
